Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: How can I accept an estimate?

A: In most cases, the estimator will be able to work up the proposal while on site and you can accept the proposal electronically by signing their tablet. Otherwise, we will email the estimate and you will be able to sign electronically within the body of the email. If you prefer not to accept via electronic methods we can provide a paper estimate via mail that you can sign and return.

  • Q: How soon after I accept the proposal will my work be done?

A: This most heavily depends on season and weather. Generally speaking, work is done in the order it is accepted. During our busy season, queue times can be anywhere from 4-8 weeks. When we are slower during the Winter, queue times are typically 2-4 weeks. Emergency work is done ASAP. We typically call the day before to let you know the work is scheduled unless you give us special instructions.

  • Q: Is Allen’s Tree Service Insured?

A: We are fully insured with both liability and worker’s compensation. We are happy to provide proof of policy upon request.

  • Q: What kind of equipment will be used for my job?

A: This depends on the scope of the work. If needed, we may use an aerial lift, mini loader, and/or stump grinder. We take great care to cause minimal impact on the yards. The estimator will be happy to discuss the specific equipment that may be needed for your job at the time of estimate.

  • Q: How can I pay my bill when the work is completed?

A: You are welcome to have a check ready for the crew at time of completion. Otherwise, we will send you a bill upon completion via email if we have one on file. You can pay by check or credit card but there is a processing fee for paying with credit card. We do not currently accept debit cards.

  • Q: What areas do you serve?

A: We serve the majority of St. Louis County, St. Louis City, St. Charles County and Lincoln and Warren counties. For a more specific list, please visit “Areas We Serve”

  • Q: How do I care for my new plants/trees after they have been installed?

A: The most important care for your newly installed plants and trees is proper watering. If you do not receive a watering guide after your new plants are installed, please contact us and we will make sure you get it. For any other questions, feel free to speak to one of our Arborists or Horticulturists and they will be happy to answer your questions.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tree Removal and Tree Pruning

  • What Is the Difference Between Tree Removal and Tree Pruning?

Tree removal involves cutting down an entire tree when it is dead, hazardous, or causing structural issues on a property. Tree pruning, on the other hand, focuses on selectively removing branches to improve the tree’s health, structure, and appearance. Professional tree removal & tree pruning services help maintain both landscape safety and long-term tree vitality.

  • When Should a Tree Be Removed Instead of Pruned?

A tree should be removed when it is severely diseased, structurally unstable, or poses a safety risk to nearby structures or people. While tree pruning can correct minor issues, severely damaged or dying trees often require complete tree removal. Professional arborists assess the condition to determine the safest and most effective solution.

  • How Does Tree Pruning Benefit the Health of a Tree?

Tree pruning removes dead, diseased, or weak branches, allowing the tree to direct energy toward healthy growth. This process improves air circulation, sunlight penetration, and structural balance. Proper tree pruning can also reduce the risk of falling limbs and extend the life of the tree.

  • What Factors Influence the Cost of Tree Removal or Tree Pruning?

The cost of tree removal & tree pruning depends on several factors, including tree size, location, accessibility, and the equipment required. Trees close to buildings, power lines, or restricted spaces typically require more careful work. The complexity and safety considerations of the job also play a major role in pricing.

  • Why Should Homeowners Hire Professionals for Tree Removal and Pruning?

Professional tree removal & tree pruning services ensure the work is performed safely and correctly using specialized tools and industry-approved techniques. Certified arborists can identify structural issues, diseases, and hazardous branches that may not be obvious. Hiring professionals helps protect both your property and the long-term health of your landscape.
